Richard is a 5th year GI Resident at University of Toronto. He completed his medical training in Toronto’s MD/PhD program studying the role of prebiotics on the intestinal epithelial barrier function and mucosal inflammation. He then completed both of his Internal Medicine and clinical GI training at Toronto. During his residency, he became interested in IBD and studied early pre-disease risk factors in the pathogenesis of IBD. In 2024, he was awarded University of Toronto’s Top Resident Researcher of the year. After his residency, he will complete an Advanced IBD Fellowship at Mount Sinai in New York City.
