Dr. Hemant Shah

Dr. Hemant Shah is Vice President, Academics at William Osler Health System, an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and a Gastroenterologist and Liver Specialist. Hemant has served in several leadership roles provincially, nationally and internationally. He has designed and delivered many interprofessional education programs and received funding for his innovative chronic and rare disease care models from government, research grant organizations and industry. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles, in leading journals such as NEJM, CMAJ, Gastroenterology and including as lead author of the Canadian Consensus Guidelines for Hepatitis C Treatment. He has been honoured for his work as the inaugural recipient of the Canadian Association for the Study of Liver’s Education Excellence Award for contributions to medical education nationally. Dr. Shah is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, holds a Medical Doctorate and Masters in Community Health from the University of Toronto and an undergraduate degree in Arts and Science from McMaster University.
